Gesture of Transformation

Scott’s background is in electronic music, music composition, philosophy and the visual arts. His PhD at CCS explored the topic of Music and Philosophy as Gesture of Transformation. One of the elements of this research is collaborative compositional practice and improvisational practice.

Scott’s recent work involves constructing soundscapes with computation and using the resulting forms to re-structure improvisational guitar approaches. The use of visual and interactive components facilitate new ways of entering into a relationship with musical form and rhythm.

Dungeon – a work designed for the Chinese Chi 2019 conference – utilises a Twitter feed attuned to the keyword ‘Dungeon’. Any tweet containing this word (along with its associated imagery) becomes part of the piece.
