CCS Members

Currently studying full time at Creativity and Cognition Studios (CCS) Sarah is undertaking a PhD researching presence-based engagements within interactive art systems. Funded by the Australasian Center for Interaction Design (ACID) she is in the process of securing a collaboration with Smartlab  (http://www.smartlab.uk.com/) in developing a system that utilises eye-scan technology for alternative interface interactivity, primarily for people with disabilities. Using a practice-based methodology her work falls into the CCS category of 'Our Content' as an audio-video database goes into stage one production in June 2008.

Sarah's research will see her develop a prototype that aims to produce presence-based engagements for participants drawing from research into digital immersive environments, augmented reality and aspects of cybertherapy.  The body of work produced will integrate multimedia technologies, human-computer interaction (HCI) and networked systems in order to develop a wearable recreational entertainment device. Evaluation of study participants experiences of the system will provide results that should illustrate the research aims in terms of contribution to new knowledge, in relation to presence engagements and HCI. 

Sarah's background in theatre and video production places her new work on firm foundation.For five years Sarah operated a multi-media studio that offered film production, graphic design, DVD authoring, web design and theatrical promotional packages. Sarah has spent a considerable amount of time working as a production manager / technical director / stage manager in the theatre and in more recent years she has produced new video works for use as interactive components for the stage. Sarah has a Diploma of Graphic Arts (CIT), a BCA in Theatre Production and Film Studies (UOW) and a Graduate Certificate in Interactive Multimedia (UTS).
