Tel: +61 2 9514 8048 Fax: +61 2 9514 8787 website :: blogDeborah recently launched an independent curatorial project titled New Media Curation. She currently holds a senior CSO position within the Powerhouse Museum and does Promotions and PR for the School of Design, Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building at UTS. She was previously Gallery Manager at the Conny Dietzschold Gallery in the Danks Street complex and was Assistant to Professor Ernest Edmonds at the Creativity and Cognition Studios. She has completed tertiary training in arts administration at the University of Sydney. Credentials include having performed internships at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney in both Curatorial and Touring Exhibitions and at the Art Gallery of NSW in the conservation of contemporary sculpture. She has researched and written an MA thesis exploring the integration of digital media into contemporary performance, specifically focusing on border crossing; through cultures, narratives, and physical spaces. Audience reception is also a key concept, and the interactive queries into human-computer dynamics at the Creativity and Cognition Studios support her immediate interests. Deborah's main research project at CCS focuses on the audience's role in interactive art. She facilitates this research by curating Beta_Space, the new media prototype exhibition space at the Powerhouse Museum. She previously managed the 2006 CCS Symposium ENGAGE: Interaction, Art and Audience Experience, held in November 2006, and was named co-editor on the proceedings. She recently co-ordinated with AMP for the Innovation and Thought Leadership Festival, curated and co-ordinated a live performance at Carriageworks (Sydney) called Correspondences in Sound and Vision; and has worked in collaboration with the Conny Dietzschold Gallery (Sydney), the UTS Gallery (Sydney) and Federation Square (Melbourne).
Deborah has completed an Honours BA with Distinction at the University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada (2002) and and MA in Curatorship and Modern Art at the University of Sydney, Australia (2006). Publications:
