Brigid  is a PHD candidate at the Creativity and Cognition Studios at UTS. Her research is practice-based and is focused on the creation of interactive artworks that encourage playful behavior. Her research has led to the identification of thirteen categories  that can be used to characterize the pleasurable aspects of a playful experience. Her current research is exploring in what ways these categories might be useful when designing for playful experience.

Brigid started her academic career with a BA in Communications from UTS majoring in Film production and Film theory. Her interest in film led to work as a camera assistant and to further study at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School. She graduated with a BA Film and Television (Cinematography) in 1992. While working as a lecturer at the University of Newcastle she developed an interest in web design and multimedia production. Her Sydney University Master of Visual Arts project, Erotecha, combined both these interests. The project, an installation with four networked computers, displayed video segments that were generated by an animated interactive interface. She is currently a lecturer in media production in the School of English, Media and Performing Arts at the University of New South Wales.
