COSTART-2 is the second stage of a major project in art and technology research. It is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). The project is investigating the implications of, and for, digital technology in art practice including the support requirements for art and technology projects. The method is to conduct artist-in-residence studies in an experimental studio environment. Studies of the processes by which artists explore and develop new technologies in collaboration with technology experts are being carried out. In combination with the results from COSTART-1, this will constitute a rich source of empirical evidence about the nature of creative practice at the beginning of the 21st century.
