Bruce Wands: The History of the New York Digital Salon 1993-2004
To be held in the Ian Gulland Lecture Theatre
The purpose of this lecture/demonstration is to show a selection of artwork that has been included in the exhibition over its eleven-year history. The presentation will include images, interactive work, computer animation and net art. In doing so, it will trace the history of digital art exhibited in New York City and other international venues over the past eleven years. The URL http://www.nydigitalsalon.org contains an archive of recent exhibitions. Key work from the eleven-year history has been documented in the exhibitions catalogs. The first two were published by the Visual ArtsPress, the 3 rd through the 10th New York Digital Salon catalogs were documented in special issues of Leonardo, published by the MIT Press.
In collaboration with the Computer Arts Society
