Lulu at the Opera House
Posted in Writing, Cancer Journal on September 18th, 2003Last night dined at Guillaume at the Opera House and then saw my fourth Lulu- the opera by Berg not the loud Scottish one. It was fantastic. The star performer and the conductor were gorgeous women with full figures and both wearing bright red silky dresses. A huge gleaming panel swung down from the ceiling and reflected the people on stage and, in between scenes, the orchestra. A stunning performance that took me out of the present momentarily.
Caught the last ferry back at midnight across a calm harbour on a mild night. We seem to have moved suddenly from a windy spring with temperatures around 18-22 to instant Summer. This weekend we are to expect 27 and the mid 30s next week.
Spoke by phone to Emma last night. She is back from Italy and wondering what next. Her good friends painted the main room upstairs and now she is now buying the blinds and enjoying her bright and shiny new space. She sounded positive in the face of chemo number 4 coming up on the 21st September.
